Sixth Alumni Meeting

The 6th Alumni meet began at 10.00 A.M at Hotel Breeze, Chennai, with a cultural dance programme, performed by Baratha Kshetra, a dance team from Chennai.

The Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Dean, Vice-Principal, Heads of all Departments, Alumni Staff Secretary, members of Faculty, Student Coordinators, Alumni Staff Coordinators and 48 Alumni were present in the meeting.

 

The formal meeting began soon after the cultural event with an invocation song. Felicitations were given by the Dean, Vice Principal and the Heads of all Departments. The third issue of the annual alumni newsletter ‘NOSTALGIA’ was released by the Chairman, Thiru.R.S.Munirathinam. The Alumni Staff Secretary highlighted the role of Alumni in the development of the Institution and invited them to initiate programs that would benefit the student body. The students of 2008 batch, whose projects have been selected as the best projects of the year, were recognized and honored with certificates and gifts, given away by the Chairman.

 

The Vice Chairman, Thiru.R.M.Kishore addressed the gathering, appreciating the Alumni for their valuable contribution and involvement in the growth and development of their Alma mater.


The members of the Alumni were invited to share their thoughts and experiences in life in the corporate sectors and in their life after leaving the college life. Many of the Alumni shared their thrilling experiences, emphasizing the fact that the discipline they had learnt in the college helps them perform well in their work spot. They were thankful to the Management and the members of faculty for nurturing them while they spent their time in the college.


A minute’s silence was observed by the gathering for the consolation of the family members of the security force personnel who have lost their lives during the recent Bombay terror attack.


The Chairman gave the Presidential address highlighting the magnitude of growth of the college during last year, including the accreditation of all Engineering branches of RMD College of Engineering for five years by NBA (National Board of Accreditation), New Delhi. He also emphasized that the Alumni meet should be conducted by the Alumni themselves in the days to come, inviting the Management and the staff as their guests. The Alumni members gladly accepted the invitation and assured the Chairman to follow the advice. Accordingly, frequent meetings with the Alumni Office bearers will be arranged by the Alumni Staff Secretary to plan the course of action. 

The following are the newly elected Alumni Association Office Bearers along with the Executive members whose names are with the President of the Association.
