The Department of Training and Placement at RMD Engineering College was set up in June 2004 for the first time in the history of College, with a view to enable the students to get the employment opportunities right in the campus while they pursue their studies.

The cell comprised of members of faculty one from each of the Engineering Departments to coordinate with the Department, in conducting programs like communication skill development, Personality development, Technical skill development, etc.

Since the time of its inception, the members of the cell have been working on the training and development activities to equip the students to meet the requirements of the recruiting companies.

The college has provided with conference halls equipped with Audio-Visual systems, power point presentation systems, Literature such as Puzzle solving books, books that contain information on career development, managerial ethics, and techniques needed to face interviews, and books on computer languages.

The Institution has a remarkable interaction with the top ranking IT, Electrical and Electronics Industries in and around Chennai and this Industry-Institution interaction helps the student community to be aware of the demand of the recruiters.

Several Industrial visits are arranged in each semester and students are exposed to the latest trends adopted in the Industrial sector towards the technological developments.

The final and the pre-final year students were given special training by the Tata Consultancy Services in a phased manner.

Series of workshop sessions were conducted for the prospective final year and the third year students by Mr. Suresh Panjabi, an eminent trainer who trained the students through various personality development programs and through mock interviews.

A program with Dr.Eugene Xavier, Manager, Academics and Training division of INFOSYS, Chennai was conducted for the final year students in August 2005.

Special training sessions were arranged with Mr. Ragunath, Max Academy, whose sessions boosted up the confidence level of the students not only to face the interviews but also to face the University examinations, strengthening the academic component of students.

A series of technical training classes have been arranged on a regular basis right in the campus with SMART Training Resources, Chennai, for the third and final year students.

A College club by name REAP (RMD ENGINEERING STUDENT’S ASSOCOATION OF PRE-EMINANCE) comprising of two clubs namely the Communication club and Mathematics Club was inaugurated in March 2006 to bring out the technical puzzle solving skills and the communication skills of the students right from the first year level so as to equip the students to face the interviews when they come to the final year.
